AGENDA FOR BREAKOUT WORK GROUPS - SESSION I<br />

Monday, December 1, 1997<br />

The objective <strong>of</strong> Session I is for each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> five IOF-WV industry sectors to develop descriptions<br />

<strong>of</strong> four to six high priority R&D project topics and corresponding R&D teams. Each recommended<br />

R&D project should be judged to be <strong>of</strong> real value for enhanced productivity <strong>of</strong> IOF-WV companies.<br />

Some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> recommended topics should fall within <strong>the</strong> scope <strong>of</strong> existing DOE/OIT/IOF industry visions<br />

and technology roadmaps. The results <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> breakout groups will be reported during <strong>the</strong> 9:00 panel<br />

session on Tuesday morning, December 2.<br />

1:30 to 1:40 Introductions around <strong>the</strong> room and brief discussion on understanding <strong>the</strong> objective for <strong>the</strong><br />

session.<br />

1:40 to 1:50 Short presentation by OIT Industry Team Leader on existing funding opportunities,<br />

solicitation dates, program priorities, etc.<br />

1:50 to 2:30 Brainstorming period to develop a list <strong>of</strong> specific projects to increase productivity and<br />

reduce costs for <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> companies through improved energy efficiency, reduced<br />

waste material, use <strong>of</strong> new technologies, better inventory and management systems, etc.<br />

2:30 to 3:00 Determine <strong>the</strong> four to six top priority projects to benefit WV industry. Briefly describe<br />

each project and potential interdisciplinary R&D team. These projects will be presented<br />

in <strong>the</strong> 9:00 panel on Tuesday morning.<br />

3:00 to 3:15 Make plans for future actions by <strong>the</strong> group to pursue existing opportunities and develop<br />

new ones, e.g., select a steering committee, collaborate on a proposal, etc. Plans for<br />

future actions will be discussed during <strong>the</strong> Wrap-Up Discussion at 3:15 on Tuesday<br />

afternoon.<br />
