While on the Funny car side it was an all DSR final as
the Force Mustangs just didn't`t have the right stuff to
stop team DSR this weekend. Johnny Gray faced a
very fast Ron Capps this would be the third time the
two would meet in a final. As both won in previous
match ups this would be the tie breaker. Capps left
first but shook and smoked the tires as that was all
that Gray needed to get the win light. This would be
johnny Grays second career win a 4.07 @ 314.39 to
Capps slowing 5.35 @160.71. Ron Capps did not run
the required ten percent to back up his run on Friday
night, although it was the quickest ever for the Funny
cars it was not an official record. But it sure was
something to wittiness.
Pro Stock finals the Summit cars of Jason Line and
Greg Anderson who debut the brand new 2012
Camaro. Line was still driveing the proven GXP. As
both cars staged and the flash of green Jason Line
was out first on Greg Anderson as the two headed for
the thousand foot mark something failed on Lines
GXP. This was all that Anderson needed to click the
win light and to give the new Camaro it`s first win.
Anderson's numbers were 6.56 @ 212.03 mph and
Lines broken 6,58 @ 200.98 mph. The last time a
Camaro won Pro Stock was at the World Finals in
2000.
