Use one-way analysis <strong>of</strong> variance to assess whether there is any difference<br />

between the five groups in average cortisol level.<br />

A nonparametric alternative to one-way ANOVA is given by the Kruskal-<br />

Wallis test. This extends the Mann-Whitney U-test described in Chapter 2,<br />

Box 2.2, to more than two groups. Use some initial graphical analyses <strong>of</strong><br />
