raider attempts to take over a
small wire and cable business in

"takeover artist" known on Wall

Andrew Jorgenson, the founder
and Chairman of New England
Wire and Cable, is played by
Bob Mackie. Stan Alger takes on
the role of William Coles,
President of New England Wire
and Cable and the heir apparent
at least until Garfinkle shows
up. Bea Sullivan, loyal, longtime
assistant to Andrew Jorgenson
is played by Joanne Powers. To
defend themselves they bring in
Kate Sullivan, Bea's daughter, a
sexy, smart Wall Street attorney
played b ■ Pamela Mayne, who
finds herself exhilarated by both
Garfinkle and the battle. It's a
knock down, drag out, "take no
prisoners" that will make you
laugh as it evokes the 1980's in
the lx?st possible way.
The Burlington Players are
an all-volunteer, community the-
ater. This Is their twelfth season
at the comfortable and intimate
Park Playhouse and they're
actively seeking new members
for both performing and non-
performing areas. The last pro-
duction of this season, "Lost in

Review: Wes Craven's slash-
er series continues with this, the
third and supposed final chapter.
Neve Campbell returns as
Sydney, along with 'Scream' vet-
erans Courtney Cox-Arquette
and David Arquette, who once
again join forces to find out who
is making Sydney's life a living
hell by killing those around her.
This time the murders are tak-
ing place on the set of 'Stab 3', a
movie based on the events of the
earlier films, which brings
Sydney out of her reclusive
lifestyle as she attempts to put
an end to the killing once and
for all.
The witty dialogue and hip,
clever cameos are back in this
film (despite the fact that writer
Kevin Williamson, who penned
the first two installments, is
receives only a producer credit
on this one), but at times you
wonder why these young adults
keep wandering into dark cor-
ners ami corridors when there's
a killer running around. Don't
they know what happeas?

MILE"

Review: The director of 'The
Shawshank Redemption' has
created another masterpiece
based on a prison-Hated novel-
lette by author Stephen King.
Tom Hanks plays prison
guard Paul Edgecomb, who
heads up a team of guards
assigned to death row, otherwise
known as the Green Mile
because of the color of the floor
tiling. His whole life, and the
lives of those around him, is
changed forever when a mon-
strous black man named John
Coffey, charged with the murder
of two white girls, is brought to
his cell block, he soon discovers
that Coffey is a miracle of
nature, and that he may not be
guilty after all.
This is one of the best pic-
tures to come out this year, and
should get the nods for best
director, best act-r, and best
supporting actor when the
Oscar nominations are
announced.

Review: Actor Jim Carrey
brings comic Andy Kaufman
back to life in this, a story of
Kaufman's unique brand and
style of humor.
Kaufman, best known for his
role as 'Latka' on the television
sitcom 'Taxi', was also known
for creating situations where
someone didn't know if a joke
was being played on them or
not.
Carrey becomes immersed in
the role, taking on Kaufman's
persona so perfectly that it is at
times eerie. The film is funny
enough, with some very comic
moments, but doesn't do more
than scratch the surface of who
Kaufman was. You walk away
wishing that it had examined
why he did the outlandish things
he did, rather than simply recre-
ate them.

DAY"

Review: Director Oliver
Stone has created a highly-
charged, entertaining film about
an aging coach in the increas-
ingly glitzy and fast-paced world
of the National Football League.
Al Pacino plays the veteran
coach of the Miami Sharks, who
can still get the best out of his
players but whom new team
owner Cameron Diaz thinks has
lost his edge. Dennis Quaid
plays the star quarterback that
is reaching the end of his play-
ing days, while a young quarter-
back, played to the hilt by Jamie
Foxx, is looking to make himself
into a superstar.
The film is helped by a strong
performance from LL Cool J,
but Diaz is a little tough to swal-
low as an NFL owner.
