Javelina Draw Licenses<br />

Application <strong>and</strong> Licenses<br />

Hunters must possess a valid resident or nonresident javelina<br />

license with valid tag. All licenses are issued by drawing. Up to<br />

four persons may apply on Form 2008. Application must be made<br />

by April 9, 2008.<br />

Bag Limit Any one javelina.<br />

Javelina <strong>and</strong> Barbary Sheep<br />

Legal Sporting Arms<br />

Centerfire rifle or h<strong>and</strong>gun; shotgun no smaller than 28 gauge, firing<br />

a single slug; any muzzleloading rifle or muzzleloading h<strong>and</strong>gun;<br />

or bow <strong>and</strong> arrows. Crossbows may only be used by Certified<br />

Mobility-Impaired Hunters, see page 15.<br />

License Fees<br />

License fee type is St<strong>and</strong>ard (S). Resident $66, Nonresident $173<br />

Fees include the nonrefundable $8 application fee <strong>and</strong> Depredation<br />

Damage Stamp fee. Habitat Stamps are required for hunting,<br />

fishing, <strong>and</strong> trapping on U.S. Forest Service <strong>and</strong> BLM l<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong><br />

must be purchased separately. A Habitat Management <strong>and</strong> Access<br />

Validation must be purchased separately.<br />

What You Must Know Before You Hunt<br />

No Over-the-Counter Licenses: There are no OTC licenses for javelina. Youth Only: Applicants must be under 18 on the opening day of the hunt,<br />

provide proof of hunter education certification to apply <strong>and</strong> carry their certificate while hunting with a firearm. Units 13 <strong>and</strong> 20: These units are<br />

subject to closure by the U.S. Forest Service <strong>and</strong>/or the military during missile firings. JAV-1-100 <strong>and</strong> JAV-1-101 Hunt: Javelina will be in small,<br />

isolated groups except in Units 23-27 (including Big Hatchet WMA). ALL hunters on McGregor Range/Fort Bliss are required to have proof of<br />

passing a certified hunter education course before they hunt. Blaze Orange Clothing: Hunters must wear at least 244 square inches of blaze<br />

orange while hunting on military property. McGregor Range/Fort Bliss requires all hunters wear a blaze orange hat <strong>and</strong> at least 288 square inches<br />

of blaze orange clothing (the size of a hunting vest).<br />

Barbary Sheep Over-the-Counter Licenses<br />

Hunters may purchase a Barbary sheep over-the-counter license with valid tag from Department offices, license vendors, online, or by mail<br />

using Form 3 (inside back cover).<br />

S<strong>and</strong>s Missile Range <strong>and</strong> Fort Bliss portions of Units 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29-34, 36, <strong>and</strong> 37. Blaze Orange Clothing: Hunters must wear<br />
