Instructions for Completing Form 2008<br />
For public draw license applications received<br />
before deadlines, the Department attempts to<br />
identify errors <strong>and</strong> notify applicants so they<br />
may correct the errors <strong>and</strong> resubmit before<br />
the deadline to apply. However, there is no<br />
assurance that this will occur for erroneous<br />
applications <strong>and</strong> payments because of mail<br />
processes, dem<strong>and</strong>s on Department staff time,<br />
<strong>and</strong> response of applicants. Correctness of<br />
applications <strong>and</strong> associated fee payments is the<br />
sole responsibility of the applicant.<br />
You may apply for 2008-2009 draw licenses <strong>and</strong><br />
permits on paper Form 2008 or apply online at:<br />
www.wildlife.state.nm.us/. The deadline for<br />
oryx licenses, turkey draw permits, all populationmanagement<br />
hunts, <strong>and</strong> bear hunts on certain<br />
wildlife management areas is Feb. 6, 2008. The<br />
application deadline for other big game draw<br />
licenses <strong>and</strong> permits is April 9, 2008. Any application<br />
postmarked after the required deadline will be<br />
rejected.<br />
Hunters wishing to hunt deer on private l<strong>and</strong><br />
in Units 2A, 2B, 2C, 4 <strong>and</strong> 5A must first obtain a<br />
specially marked Form 2008 from the l<strong>and</strong>owner.<br />
Applications for these hunts may NOT be made<br />
online. Hunters wishing to hunt elk or turkey on<br />
the Valles Caldera must apply through the Valles<br />
Caldera directly, see page 30.<br />
You must use a separate form for each species you<br />
wish to hunt.<br />
Hunters may apply online at: www.wildlife.<br />
state.nm.us using their credit card. Their card<br />
will initially only be charged the $8 application fee.<br />
License <strong>and</strong> permit fees will be charged to the<br />
credit card at the time the license or permit<br />
is DRAWN. Applicants are responsible for<br />
ensuring their card can cover ALL license fees<br />
at the time of the drawing.<br />
If you complete paper Form 2008, use the envelope<br />
attached to the form <strong>and</strong> mail it to:<br />

All applications must be submitted to the Santa<br />
Fe office. Return the entire form, regardless of the<br />
number of applicants (do not cut the form). Do not<br />
use the sample form on this page.<br />

Do not submit faxed or photocopied versions of<br />
Form 2008. All copies will be rejected.<br />
ALWAYS retain your application number.<br />
Use this number to obtain your draw<br />
results.<br />
You may designate up to three hunt choices, if<br />
available. ( See page 57, #8 for exception on elk<br />
<strong>and</strong> deer hunt choices.) Your second <strong>and</strong> third<br />
choices MAY be for different sporting arms types.<br />
Residents <strong>and</strong> nonresidents may apply together for<br />
draw licenses.
