Regulations – <strong>BTCC</strong> 2012<br />

3.7.14. In Free Practice sessions, Official Qualifying sessions and Races drivers leaving the Pit Lane will<br />

do so at their own responsibility. However, a marshal with a blue flag will warn of cars<br />

approaching on the track.<br />

3.7.15. For All Races: If a car officially retires in the Pits, it must be immediately pushed into its allocated<br />

Pit Garage or a Parc Fermé Area or other area as directed by <strong>BTCC</strong> Officials and this will be<br />

deemed to be notification of the withdrawal of that car from the Race.<br />

3.7.16. During the course of any Free Practice session, Official Qualifying session and/or Race <strong>BTCC</strong><br />

Officials may order that a competitors car be moved so as not to cause an obstruction.<br />

3.7.17 For all sessions (other than at Knockhill), cars will leave the Pit Lane in garage order or only as<br />

otherwise directed to do so by a <strong>BTCC</strong> Official unless otherwise notified by Championship<br />

Bulletin. No car is permitted to leave its designated Pit/Garage area until the Pit Lane is officially<br />

opened unless directed to do so by a <strong>BTCC</strong> Official.<br />

3.7.18. For All Races: Teams with one or two cars are permitted one Pit Bay per team for Pit Stops.<br />

Teams with three or more cars are permitted two Pit Bays per team for Pit Stops and prior to the<br />

first Race of a Meeting the Administrator will notify the team as to which of that team’s cars will<br />

use which Bay.<br />

3.8. Stopping of Free Practice, Official Qualifying Session or Race:<br />

3.8.1.a. Should the need arise to stop Free Practice or Official Qualification, RED lights will be switched<br />

on at the Start Line and RED flags will be displayed at the Start Line and waved at all Marshals<br />

Signalling Posts around the track. This is the signal for all drivers to immediately cease driving at<br />

racing speed and proceed slowly, without overtaking, and with maximum caution to the Pit Lane,<br />

and being prepared to stop should the track be blocked. The <strong>BTCC</strong> Clerk may request the <strong>BTCC</strong><br />

Doctor to proceed onto the track in the <strong>BTCC</strong> Medical Car, stopping if necessary at any incident.<br />

3.8.1.b. Any car not returning to the Pits under its own power during the Official Qualifying session will<br />

only be allowed to participate further in that session at the discretion of the <strong>BTCC</strong> Clerk.<br />

3.8.2. Should the need arise to stop a Race, RED lights will be switched on at the Start Line and Red<br />

flags will be displayed at the Start Line and at all Marshals Signalling Posts around the Circuit.<br />

This is the signal for all drivers to cease driving at racing speeds, to slow to a safe and<br />

reasonable pace and to return to the Starting Grid area which will automatically become a Parc<br />

Ferme area.<br />

Cars may not enter the Pits unless directed to do so. Work on cars already in the Pits must cease<br />

when a Race is stopped.<br />

The <strong>BTCC</strong> Clerk may request the <strong>BTCC</strong> Doctor to proceed onto the track in the <strong>BTCC</strong> Medical<br />

Car, stopping if necessary at any incident.<br />

3.8.2. a Case A – Less than two laps completed by the Race leader.<br />

The Race will be null and void. The Race will restart from the original grid positions. Competitors<br />

unable to take the restart may be replaced by reserves who will start from the back of the grid in<br />

reserve order. Gaps on the grid should not be closed up. The length of the restarted Race will be<br />

determined by the <strong>BTCC</strong> Clerk.<br />

3.8.2.b. Case B – More than two laps completed by the Race leader but less than 75%.<br />

The Race will restart from a grid set out by the finishing order of part one (as per <strong>MSA</strong> General<br />

Regulation Q5.4.2). The result of the Race will be the finishing order at the end of part two. The<br />

length of the restarted Race will be determined by the <strong>BTCC</strong> Clerk.<br />

3.8.2.c. If the Race leader has completed more than 75% of the Race distance, it shall not be restarted<br />

and the results will be declared in accordance with <strong>MSA</strong> General Regulation Q5.4.3, unless the<br />

<strong>BTCC</strong> Clerk, in consultation with the Stewards deem it appropriate to restart the race.<br />

3.8.2.d If the Race leader has completed less than 75% of the Race distance it may not be restarted and<br />

the results may be declared null and void at the discretion of the <strong>BTCC</strong> Clerk after consultation<br />

with the Administrator.<br />

3.8.2.e. Incidents occurring during the discounted part of a Race (as per Sporting Regulations 3.8.2.a.<br />

and 3.8.2.b) will be dealt with in accordance with the Regulations.<br />

3.8.2.f. In the event of a Race being stopped, no team personnel are permitted on the grid until<br />

authorised to do so by a <strong>BTCC</strong> Official.<br />
