Regulations – BTCC 2012
6.6. Television:
6.6.1. By entering the Championship, manufacturers/constructors, competitors, entrants and teams are
obliged to assist TOCA in the promotion of the Championship and in particular, the television
coverage:
6.6.1.a. All manufacturers/constructors, competitors, entrants and teams are obliged to assist the TOCA
nominated TV Production Company in the filming and production of Championship events and
activities when requested by the TV Production Company or the Administrator.
6.6.1.b. Without prejudice to the generality of 6.6.1.a drivers finishing first, second and third in the Drivers’
Championship and the Independents Championship must make themselves available
immediately after each Qualifying session, Race and/or the prize giving ceremony for media
interviews in accordance with the requirements and directions of the Administrator and/or the Coordinator.
6.6.1.c. All cars must carry an in-car camera or on-board camera during testing, Free Practice, Official
Qualifying sessions and/or the Races at the request of the TV Production Company or the
Administrator, and all cars must carry a Championship on-board Judicial camera. The onus is on
the entrant to ensure this Judicial camera is switched on and recording for all Official Qualifying
and Races. This must be done not before five minutes prior to the Pit Lane opening for Official
Qualifying and not before each five-minute Race start signal and must be switched off
immediately the car is released from Parc Ferme. Should a car be retired to the Pits or Paddock
during Qualifying or Races the power to the Judicial camera must remain on. It is not permitted to
switch off the power to the camera without the permission of the BTCC Chief Scrutineer until the
time all cars that have completed that particular Qualifying Session or Race are released from
Parc Ferme. Installation will be approved by a TOCA Official and operating procedures for the
Judicial camera will be made available to all entrants in a Championship Bulletin.
No other in-car video, still or motion picture cameras will be permitted without the written authority
of the Administrator and such permission will usually be withheld. It is also not permitted to use
the TOCA camera in the untimed sessions without permission etc
6.6.1.c.(i). Judicial Camera Operation Procedures:
Qualifying:
A TOCA official will insert a memory card to the camera between Free Practice 2 and Qualifying.
It is then the responsibility of the team to start their respective camera(s) prior to the start of the
Qualifying session and to ensure it is recording. Any problems must immediately be notified to a
TOCA official.
Sunday:
A TOCA official will insert the ‘RACE DAY A’ memory card prior to Race 1. This card has the
capacity to record all three Races. If the memory card is required by the BTCC Clerk or the
Administrator then the ‘RACE DAY A’ memory card will be replaced by a TOCA official for the
‘RACE DAY B’ memory card. If your ‘RACE DAY B’ memory card is required then the same will
happen.
All competitors are to ensure that all cameras are fully functional at all times and that any
problems are reported to a TOCA Official immediately.
Such camera(s) must be set to start recording immediately prior the pit-lane opening for
Qualifying and between the 5 and 3 minute boards on the grid for all races. They must be
switched-off using the ‘camera off’ button immediately after all cars have been released from
Parc Ferme after Qualifying and each Race.
6.6.1.d. Only non-broadcast quality video cameras may be used by teams during an event. These
cameras may only be operated from within each team’s own Pit Garage or within their allocated
paddock and/or motorhome area. Footage from these cannot be used for commercial
exploitation or public broadcast. Any footage produced in breach of this Regulation will forthwith
upon request be delivered up to the Administrator in addition to any penalty imposed.
6.6.1.e. Any competitor and/or anyone connected with a competitor or manufacturer/constructor is
prohibited from trying to influence the editorial decisions of the TV Production Company in
connection with the Championship as it is shown on television or of otherwise interfering with
television coverage.
6.6.1.f. The decision as to which car is to carry an on-board camera and/or an in-car camera rests solely
with the TV Production Company and the Administrator whose decision shall be final.
6.6.2. Each team is permitted to install its own brackets to incorporate an in-car camera subject to the
prior approval of the BTCC Chief Scrutineer and/or the BTCC Technical Commissioner and the
nominated TV Production Company.
