The Primary goal is to
Save Life
• Excessive manipulation and inadequate
immoblization of a patient with a spinal injury
can cause additional neurologic damage.
• As long as the patient’s spine is protected,
evaluation of the spine and exclusion of spine
injury may be safely deferred, especially in
the presence of systemic instability, eg,
respiratory inadequacy and hypotension.
