about Cigarettes! I was a smoker at the time and this is at a time when you<br />

were allowed to smoke in your seat.<br />

I remember going through 10 cigarettes in the 30 minutes of extra time. Well<br />

I always said City would be the death of me!! Extra time came to a close and<br />

penalties were now between us and promotion. I can honestly say that I wasn't<br />

this nervous before losing my virginity.<br />

Once under way though, the penalty shootout nerves were soon gone as we<br />

were first up to take the spot kick and our boys did us proud, Horlock scores for<br />

City 1-0, Weaver dives to save from Smith 1-0, the our hero Paul Dickov steps<br />

up and hits the post!!!<br />

I am sure he did it on purpose as the Gillingham Keeper Vince Bartram was<br />

Dickov's best man at his wedding. This meant the score stayed 1-0 and<br />

Gillingham were up next and could level it. However, Pennock misses by a<br />

mile, still 1-0. Up steps Terry Cooke, scores for City 2-0. Then Hodge scores for<br />

Gillingham 2-1, next Edgehill sends the keeper the wrong way 3-1. We were<br />

there, I was sure of it.<br />

COME ON WEAVER I shouted as we all sang ENGLANDS, ENGLANDS<br />

NUMBER 1, ENGLANDS NUMBER 1. HE ONLY BLOODY WELL DID IT,<br />

Weaver saves from Butters and City are promoted!! By this time I was a crazed<br />
