District Convention Compiled by CNH District Projects Committee SAA Updates A Word from your Sergeant at Arms Coordinators The California-Nevada-Hawaii Sergeant at Arms Team consists of the two SAA Coordinators and the two SAA Mentors. They take the responsibility of educating all members on the Code of Conduct and enforcing it during Key Club events, especially District Convention. Overall, they promote a general atmosphere of safety and maintain the integrity of Key Club International. Hello CNH Bees, My name is Josef Madrigal, and I am one of your Sergeant at Arms Coordinators for this year. Unlike previous years, the Sergeant at Arms Coordinators are not Lieutenant Governors; this means that I am just a Key Club member like many of you. I am honored to have this position. Two years ago during District Convention in Anaheim, California, I began to fall in love with Key Club; I decided to do as much as I can to help our wonderful organization. As the SAA Coordinator this year, I will be able to help other members feel the way that I felt by ensuring that they are free from any form of danger or discomfort. By performing my duties to the best of my ability, I hope that I can inspire many of you to be the best that you could possibly be. I am so excited for the rest of my term, and I cannot wait to meet many of you during District Convention. Forever Buzzing In Service, Josef Madrigal Hello, Cal-Nev-Ha Key Clubbers, My name is Vyvy Hoang and I will be serving as your 2012-2013 Sergeant at Arms Task Coordinator. Well, most of you might say: “What is Sergeant at Arms?” Sergeants at Arms, or for short SAAs, are volunteers at District Convention that help out by checking on Dress Code, the Code of Conduct, and Key Club International’s policies. I joined Key Club my freshman year and started to attend District Convention every year from then on. Over the years, I realized that Key Club has given me such wonderful opportunities, and I have made it my goal to give back to Key Club by trying to give the members an enjoyable and safe time during District Convention. I hope to not only help but also inspire others to realize that there are many waves out there, you just have to keep trying. I am looking forward to working with all the members who are going to sign up to become an SAA at District Convention when Online Registration for DCON opens up. District Updates Compiled by CNH Member Recognition Committee Member Recognition Corner SERVICE CONTESTS Featured Contest: Service Contests The following are contests that a club may apply for as a whole. There are various focus areas; however, all of these contests emphasize on promoting the ideals and values of Key Club International. Major Emphasis This contest recognizes clubs that have initiated or participated in projects related to the Key Club International Major Emphasis (Children: Their Future, Our Focus) during the past District Administrative year. Single Service This contest recognizes clubs that have planned and initiated a distinguishable service project during the past District Administrative year. REMEMBER: All District & International contest applications must be submitted by Friday, February 8 th , 2013.
