sneered, then after a moment of looking<br />

at the demon statue, he barked out, “So,<br />

whose carcass did you drag her from?”<br />

A genuine smile broke across his<br />

Takayuki-san’s broad mouth, “Mana-chan<br />

bore her. Yoko-chan was born blind,<br />

but she was mine.” Waving his hand at<br />

the statue, he said, “The money should<br />

be enough to keep Yoko-chan in a small<br />

house, but she needs to be protected and<br />

taken care of. All I ask is that Yokochan<br />

is kept safe and happy, whether with<br />

you or someone who will not abuse her or<br />

the money.”<br />

Gisei let it sink in that he had a<br />

half-sister, who was blind, and who he<br />

insulted vulgarly, but was his sister.<br />

Taking a breath, he murmured, “I shall<br />

see to her.”<br />

Worry flashed, darkening the man’s<br />

already black gaze, before he resignedly<br />

closed his eyes. “Thank you.” Takayukisan<br />
