She attended grammar school at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, then Notre Dame High School <strong>in</strong> Belmont. After graduation, she went to college at Santa Clara University, where she achieved her bachelor’s degree <strong>in</strong> sociology. After college, she served one year <strong>in</strong> the Jesuit Volunteer Corps <strong>in</strong> C<strong>in</strong>c<strong>in</strong>nati, Ohio. She then moved to Denver, Colo., for 12 years. Mary moved back to <strong>Redwood</strong> City <strong>in</strong> November 1997. She still lives here with her husband, Gary. She has a 19-year-old son named Dewayne. She is the owner and operator of downtown bus<strong>in</strong>ess Jigsaw Java, which she opened <strong>in</strong> 2008. Mary is active <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Redwood</strong> City–San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Group, Pen<strong>in</strong>sula Sunrise Rotary club and Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Network<strong>in</strong>g International. Besides puzzles, her hobbies <strong>in</strong>clude show<strong>in</strong>g roses, which her husband grows, and cook<strong>in</strong>g. Favorite song? “Ballad of Curtis Loew” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
