According <strong>to</strong> research by Theodor Nöldeke, he was descended from Otanes, one <strong>of</strong> the associates<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Darius</strong> in the murder <strong>of</strong> Smerdis.<br />

Pharnabazus is first recorded as satrap <strong>of</strong> this province in 413 BC, when, having received orders<br />

from <strong>Darius</strong> II <strong>of</strong> Persia <strong>to</strong> send in the outstanding tribute <strong>of</strong> the Greek cities on the Ionian coast,<br />

he, like Tissaphernes <strong>of</strong> Caria, entered in<strong>to</strong> negotiations with Sparta and began a war with Athens.<br />

The conduct <strong>of</strong> the war was much hindered by the rivalry between the two satraps, <strong>of</strong> whom<br />

Pharnabazus was by far the more energetic and upright. After the war he came in<strong>to</strong> conflict with<br />

the Spartan general, Lysander.<br />

Macedonia and Laodice <strong>of</strong> Macedonia) in Susa, Azerbaijan. He was born in 358 BC in Greece,<br />

Macedonia. He died in 281 BC in Bab Ilu or Babylon, Mesopotamia, Now, Iraq.<br />

Notes for Seleucus I Satrap Nica<strong>to</strong>r King Syria:<br />

Seleucus I (ca. 358-281 B.C.), a Macedonian general, was a Companion <strong>of</strong> Alexander the <strong>Great</strong>,<br />

king <strong>of</strong> Babylonia and Syria, and founder <strong>of</strong> the Seleucid empire and dynasty.<br />

The son <strong>of</strong> a Macedonian nobleman, Seleucus was born between 358 and 354 B.C. in Macedonia,<br />

then ruled by Philip II. He grew up with the king's son, Alexander, and became Alexander's close<br />

associate during his expedition through Persia. Seleucus was present with Alexander at Susa in<br />

324, and according <strong>to</strong> Alexander's bidding, Seleucus married the Bactrian princess Apama. Unlike<br />

many <strong>of</strong> the Macedonians, Seleucus never repudiated this political marriage.<br />

Seleucus I Satrap Nica<strong>to</strong>r King Syria and Apame or Apama <strong>of</strong> Bactria had the following children:<br />

Apame or Apama <strong>of</strong> Bactria) was born in 324 BC in Macedonia. He died in 261 BC<br />

in Greece, Macedonia. He married STRATONICE I SYRIA. She was born in<br />

Macedonia. She died in 268 BCE, Syrian Arab Republic.
