THE SKY-LARK.<br />

<strong>The</strong> flow'rs <strong>of</strong> the forest in spring time were gay,<br />

And the smile <strong>of</strong> my Mary gave wings to the day,<br />

But past are those pleasures no more to return,<br />

Her charms I adore, and her falsehood I mourn,<br />

For alas ! she has left me for pastimes more gay,<br />

Aad the flow'rs <strong>of</strong> the forest all wither away.<br />

<strong>The</strong> flow'rs <strong>of</strong> the forest in spring time were gay,<br />

Like their fragrance, my bliss and fond hopes pass<br />

away,<br />

Fond hopes, which I caught from the glance <strong>of</strong> her eye,<br />

Now blighted by sorrow^ fade, wither and die.<br />

For alas! she has left me for pastimes more gay,<br />

Aad the flow'rs <strong>of</strong> the forest all wither away.<br />

DUET.<br />

Tell me where is fancy bred,<br />

Or in the heart, or in the head?<br />

How begot, how nourish'd?—Reply.<br />

It is engender'd in the eye;<br />

With gazing fed, and fancy dies<br />

In the cradle, where it lies.<br />

Let us all ring fancy's knell:<br />

Til begin it, ding, dong, belL
