Female: Length 1.4-2.2mm., 2.3 times as long as wide; color yellowish brown to dark<br />
reddish brown.<br />
Frons weakly convex above, somewhat flattened and very finely aciculate below; punctures<br />
on lower half moderate in size, depth, and density ; pubescence inconspicuous. Antennal<br />
funicle variable, with three, four, or five segments, occasionally with a different<br />
number of segments in right and left antennae of one specimen.<br />
Pronotum about 1.2 times as wide as long; widest one-fourth of length from base,<br />
sides rather strongly arcuate, broadly rounded in front; four contiguous serrations on<br />
anterior margin , median pair large, lateral pair minute; about 16 to 22 rather large, distinct<br />
asperities on anterior slope ; vestiture consisting of rather sparse, short hair, longer<br />
on asperate area, intermixed on posterior half with equally long, scalelike setae.<br />
Elytra shining, 1.5 times as long as wide, 1.8 times as long as pronotum; striae not<br />
impressed, punctures small ; inter striae about 2.5 times as wide as striae, punctures minute,<br />
shallow, rather abundant and confused. Declivity rather steep, convex. Vestiture consisting<br />
of moderately abundant , small, inconspicuous, hair- or scalelike interstr ial setae (often<br />
abraded), and uniseriate rows of long, broad, truncate , interstria l scales, each scale on<br />
declivity about two to thre e times as long as wide and almost as long as the distance<br />
between rows of bristle s, more slender on disc ; rows of scales crowded in some specimens<br />
and confused on declivity.<br />
Male: Similar to female except smaller , 1.3-1.5 mm., 2.16 times as long as wide ; eye<br />
reduced in size; serrations on anterior margin of pronotum reduced, often with one or<br />
more absent; and elytral vestiture somewhat longer, particularly on sides.<br />
