itself, without ceasing to be Masonry.”<br />
Masonry in action is actively exercising charity, which includes forgiving wrongs<br />
done to us, alleviating sufferings, sympathizing with <strong>the</strong> sorrows <strong>of</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rs, and<br />
relieving necessities and destitution. (Ibid., p. 147).<br />
Yes, dear brethren, our beloved Fraternity requires and expects each one <strong>of</strong> us,<br />
its initiates or votaries, to do something, within and according to his means, and<br />
<strong>the</strong>re is no one <strong>of</strong> us who cannot do something, if not alone, <strong>the</strong>n by combination<br />
and association. (Ibid., p. 179).<br />
States Ill. Pike still: “Life is real, and is earnest, and it is full <strong>of</strong> duties to be<br />
performed. It is <strong>the</strong> beginning <strong>of</strong> our immortality…” (Ibid., p. 251).<br />
We must, <strong>the</strong>refore, demonstrate our deep interest in, as well as our sincere<br />
affection for, <strong>the</strong> world by working for its amelioration, so that it will be our portion<br />
to hear from <strong>the</strong> Supreme Judge <strong>the</strong> welcome words, “Well done, ye good and<br />
faithful servants; enter ye into <strong>the</strong> joy <strong>of</strong> your Lord.”<br />
In Conclusion<br />
I convey sincerest fraternal thanks to MW Jun <strong>Ebdane</strong> for giving me <strong>the</strong> opportunity<br />
and privilege to be <strong>of</strong> service to you, dear brethren, and your families as our <strong>Grand</strong><br />
<strong>Lodge</strong>’s Senior <strong>Grand</strong> Lecturer.<br />
I also convey my deep gratitude to all Junior <strong>Grand</strong> Lecturers, District <strong>Grand</strong><br />
Lecturers, and <strong>Lodge</strong> Lecturers for <strong>the</strong>ir support and cooperation in <strong>the</strong><br />
implementation <strong>of</strong> our Masonic Education Lecture Program for <strong>the</strong> Masonic year<br />
about to come to a close.<br />
I hope to see you, dear brethren, at <strong>the</strong> Ancom in Cebu City, where I will give<br />
you a full report <strong>of</strong> things done during my watch as SGL.<br />
Finally, I want to express my great joy to be given <strong>the</strong> chance to maintain a<br />
column in this <strong>of</strong>ficial quarterly publication <strong>of</strong> our <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>.<br />
What is <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> Freemasonry?<br />
To create in <strong>the</strong> world a band <strong>of</strong> men to whom o<strong>the</strong>rs may look for<br />
example and inspiration – men who o<strong>the</strong>rs will say are men <strong>of</strong> honor,<br />
virtue and charitable feelings.<br />
