ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT FOR THE HUMAN AND MATERIAL RESOURCES
There are 10 commercial courts in Barcelona. Each court is independent and has its
own organization. It handles the cases assigned by a central common service called
“Decanato”. Claims are submitted to the Decanato, which registrates them and
distributes them among the courts. Once the claim has arrived to the court, it is
registered again and the judicial proceeding can start.

Human resources and material are provided by the administration of the Autonomous
Community (in this case Catalonia). These administrative units are not integrated into
the courts, they have their own hierarchical organization within the autonomic
administration.
There are other first instance courts with different jurisdictions in Barcelona: the civil
courts, labour courts, administrative courts and the criminal courts.
