Arabic 101 is designed to teach the students the Arabic alphabet and its intricacies. Students will be taught Arabic script, and they will be introduced to this medium through numerous texts. In addition to writing, the other skills— reading, speaking, and listening—will be introduced simultaneously. By the end of this course, students will be able to master the Arabic alphabet and sound system, be able to distinguish and pronounce all Arabic sounds, and write accurately from dictation. Students will be taught ways to read and understand short texts on familiar topics, speak about themselves and their immediate environment, and interact with each other in conversational Arabic on a range of general topics. At the end of the course, students will also have a greater knowledge of various aspects of Arab culture (e.g., social customs, religious traditions, family life, etc.). Textbook not included.
