Nature Printing Workshop<br />

Using our noses, eyes and simple printing gear, we’ll cultivate<br />
a new variety of garden art. This fun-filled printing<br />
workshop uses small natural material plus watercolors and<br />
printing ink to create wonderful art. Instructor will bring<br />
the printing supplies as well as highlights from her garden<br />
for everyone to share, as we create small masterpieces.<br />
There will be a $5 charge upon registration for the art supplies<br />

American Art<br />

In the early 20th century, American artists embraced many<br />
of the innovations in Modern Art. As a result of their travels<br />
to Europe and exposure to important exhibitions such<br />
as the Armory Show in New York, American artists interacted<br />
internationally in the art world. Enjoy a slide based<br />
workshop about some of the exciting artistic movements<br />
in modern art including Post Impressionism, Steiglitz’s 291<br />
Group, the Ash Can School, Abstract Expressionism and<br />
pop art. The slide presentations will highlight paintings,<br />
sculptures and photography by famous artists such as<br />
Warhol, Lichtenstein, Calder, DeKooning, Pollock, Hassam,<br />
Prendergast, Henri, Hopper, Steiglitz, Steichen, and<br />
their contemporaries.<br />
Film Appreciation<br />

Love movies? Gain a greater appreciation of this art form<br />
by learning to analyze a film’s meaning as expressed<br />
through the images appearing on screen, and understanding<br />
the basics of how a film is constructed (shots, angles,<br />
lighting, sound, color, etc.). After watching suggested<br />
films at home, class discussions will focus on the director’s<br />
strategy, choices made behind the camera, the history of<br />
filmmaking, film theory, and issues such as gender, race,<br />
and ethnicity. If movies are your passion you can’t afford<br />
to miss these five nights of film clips and lively debate!<br />

Whether you’re interested in guitar for personal fulfillment<br />
or you’re pursuing it as a career, this course is for you! By<br />
learning the guitar as an instrument with no boundaries<br />
you’ll learn to focus on how sounds are created, instead of<br />
being limited to one style. The beginning class focuses on<br />
basic reading, fingerings, chording, strumming, picking,<br />
and theory with finger-style technique for a more thorough<br />
exploration of the instrument’s capabilities. Regular<br />
out-of-class practice is expected for the student to progress.<br />
Please bring guitar and textbook to the first class.<br />

recommended. While an electric guitar is preferred for this<br />
course, an acoustic will suffice. Please bring guitar, textbook,<br />
and folding music stand to class. Guitar, textbook,<br />

Nothing is more enjoyable than sharing music with one<br />
another! This course is designed for guitarists with basic<br />
reading proficiency in the first position. Students will be<br />
grouped into duos, trios, and quartets, and learn to play<br />
music as a group. While this course does not teach notes,<br />
we will cover fundamental performance practices and<br />
increase your skill level as a performer.<br />
