Nature Printing Workshop

Using our noses, eyes and simple printing gear, we’ll cultivate
a new variety of garden art. This fun-filled printing
workshop uses small natural material plus watercolors and
printing ink to create wonderful art. Instructor will bring
the printing supplies as well as highlights from her garden
for everyone to share, as we create small masterpieces.
There will be a $5 charge upon registration for the art supplies

NEW The Advent of Modernism in
American Art

In the early 20th century, American artists embraced many
of the innovations in Modern Art. As a result of their travels
to Europe and exposure to important exhibitions such
as the Armory Show in New York, American artists interacted
internationally in the art world. Enjoy a slide based
workshop about some of the exciting artistic movements
in modern art including Post Impressionism, Steiglitz’s 291
Group, the Ash Can School, Abstract Expressionism and
pop art. The slide presentations will highlight paintings,
sculptures and photography by famous artists such as
Warhol, Lichtenstein, Calder, DeKooning, Pollock, Hassam,
Prendergast, Henri, Hopper, Steiglitz, Steichen, and
their contemporaries.
Film Appreciation
FILM

Love movies? Gain a greater appreciation of this art form
by learning to analyze a film’s meaning as expressed
through the images appearing on screen, and understanding
the basics of how a film is constructed (shots, angles,
lighting, sound, color, etc.). After watching suggested
films at home, class discussions will focus on the director’s
strategy, choices made behind the camera, the history of
filmmaking, film theory, and issues such as gender, race,
and ethnicity. If movies are your passion you can’t afford
to miss these five nights of film clips and lively debate!

Whether you’re interested in guitar for personal fulfillment
or you’re pursuing it as a career, this course is for you! By
learning the guitar as an instrument with no boundaries
you’ll learn to focus on how sounds are created, instead of
being limited to one style. The beginning class focuses on
basic reading, fingerings, chording, strumming, picking,
and theory with finger-style technique for a more thorough
exploration of the instrument’s capabilities. Regular
out-of-class practice is expected for the student to progress.
Please bring guitar and textbook to the first class.

For students ready to expand their playing with new
rhythms, scales, and soloing, this course is designed for
you. Completion of the Beginning Guitar course is highly
recommended. While an electric guitar is preferred for this
course, an acoustic will suffice. Please bring guitar, textbook,
and folding music stand to class. Guitar, textbook,

Nothing is more enjoyable than sharing music with one
another! This course is designed for guitarists with basic
reading proficiency in the first position. Students will be
grouped into duos, trios, and quartets, and learn to play
music as a group. While this course does not teach notes,
we will cover fundamental performance practices and
increase your skill level as a performer.
