Before any outing, it is important to choose the
appropriate crampons for the anticipated terrain.
With the new modular LYNX crampons, it is possible
to choose a front point configuration that optimizes
crampon performance: The following tips will help you
choose the best configuration.
Dual point configuration
The dual point configuration provides good lateral stability.
• Long dual points: optimal configuration for snow or ice
gulleys, or moderate ice climbing. When the ice is covered by
snow, the long points will reach the ice through the snow layer
• Short dual points: preferable for mixed terrain with rock or
very solid ice. In the short point version, the secondary points
will come in contact with the rock or ice, adding stability and
reducing fatigue to the calves
• Asymmetrical dual points: primarily for experts, on difficult,
very technical mixed terrain. In this configuration, the technique
is close to climbing, with the feet slightly turned out and heels
raised
Information is non-exhaustive. Refer to the other pages as well as to the user instructions and technical manuals. Technical training is essential.
