WELCOME to Grand Lake
In 1937 the U.S. Government approved twenty million
dollars for the construction of a dam across the Grand
River. It was a dream that people in Northeastern
Oklahoma had had for over thirty years. Construction took
only three years to build the “world’s longest multi-arch dam.”

Grand Lake and the towns and cities that
wind around its 1,300 miles of shoreline, is
home to about 15,000 genial residents from
Monday through Thursday. Friday arrives
and so do the hundreds more who call Grand
Lake their weekend getaway.
