Background

Structure
A household automation system is shown in the diagram below. Lights are separated into different zones with the
I/O function of the DVP-SV series PLC controlling the lighting in different zones at different times. The analog input
module DVP04AD-S receives the 4 to 20mA signals (13-bit resolution) from the CO2 detector, which detects the
quantity of CO2 currently in the house. The DVP04AD-S also receives the analog signals output from the wind speed
detector, adjusting the degree of opening for the door and windows depending on the wind speed. The VFD-E series
AC motor drive has built-in PLC functions that allow the user to map out simple sequential control and connect the
sensor at the garage to input contacts. The DOP-B series human machine interface (B10E model) supports the
Ethernet interface that allows the user to easily construct a multi-HMI system. If cost is not a concern, the HMI can
be installed in several other locations. If the control requires more I/Os from the PLC, the PLC can be extended via
Ethernet.

eRemote and eServer

Delta’s new human machine interfaces support Ethernet communication by offering the free remote monitoring
software, eRemote. eRemote allows the user to monitor the remote HMI and the latest conditions in the house from
any location. The 3G network can also be used outside of the house to check the household condition online. See the
network structure diagram below. The external IP for this house is 59.123.XX.XX and the HMI port is set to 12348.
The user only needs to open the eRemote software, set up the IP and port, and monitor the real-time HMI screen from
the PC.
Another important function of an automated building is data collection. Data that needs collecting includes the
history of electricity consumption and warnings. The HMI collects this data and stores it to memory cards or disks.
Delta eServer software saves the data for sampling on a PC in Excel files or a database format. Only a few steps are
required to complete the storage.
