PREFACE
his poem, like all ancient poems, includes corrupt
or difficult passages, on which I have often applied
for aid to two powerful allies, Professor A. E. Housman
and Mr. W. T. Vesey, Fellow of Gonville and Caius
College ;
it is a pleasure to record here my indebted-
ness to both these scholars.
