eloquent beauty. The moon is here.
She watches you sleep, as I do,
with an eye on the winter night.
Amidst the moving clouds,
her private gaze seems subliminal
sadness. The storm swells before her,
leaving only darkness behind.
Be still, my love. The moon means no harm.
Her silent vigilance is what protects us,
defends us, from winter’s nightmare.
Her radiance reveals the icy wood that separates us
from the hazy green light of the horizon.
And as we prepare death below,
she beams life upon us.
But sleep well, my dearest. Whatever troubles
you tonight will be avenged tomorrow.
The moon asks little for her protective eye.
You have nothing to fear—our bed is warm.
Tomorrow, another maid will have the honor.
