A different attempt at deployability uses shipping<br />
containers as the actual rooms of the house. This<br />
option yields only 160 square feet of training<br />
area per 20-foot box, and live-fire is not possible<br />
without additional armor protection. You also end<br />
up with excessively small rooms that greatly<br />
limit your training options. We use shipping<br />
containers as well, but we use them to ship MATCH<br />
components that yield 2,400 square feet of live<br />
fire training area per container. To provide some<br />
perspective, MATCH houses require only 1/5 of<br />
the shipping space needed for the same size<br />
village constructed out of shipping containers.<br />
That means a village the size of the one we sent<br />
to Baghdad in 20 containers would require 100<br />
containers if you were using them as the actual<br />
rooms of the house. You would also have a<br />
facility without realistic room sizes and layouts,<br />
without the option of being reconfigured for<br />
mission rehearsal tasks, and without the ability<br />
to use live-fire service ammunition (unless you<br />
line every surface with armor steel.) The ability<br />
to use service ammunition in MATCH is a huge<br />
advantage. The last thing a wartime commander<br />
needs is to spend unnecessary time and money<br />
changing out the bolts for SRTA practice.<br />
