BARCLAYS WEALTH ESTATES & TRUSTS Schedule of fees for Probate services Barclays Bank Trust Company Limited 1. Fees including VAT for acting as Executor or Administrator Gross estate value Service fee Up to £200,000 £6,000 £200,001 - £300,000 £9,600 £300,001 - £400,000 £12,000 £400,001 - £500,000 £15,600 £500,001 - £1,000,000 £18,000 £1,000,001 - £3,000,000 £36,000 Over £3,000,000 By agreement In most cases we will confirm a fixed fee as soon as practical following notification of the death, however in some cases we will need to make an additional charge for activities listed in point 3. All the fees quoted above are inclusive of the following activities: • Probate valuation of investments excluding private company shares • Legal fees for preparing the probate application along with probate court fees • Estate tax returns • Indemnity fees – Leasehold property and missing share certificates • Postage and telephone costs 2. Disbursements All fees quoted above are exclusive of disbursements, expenses and third party costs properly incurred e.g. estate agents commission and solicitors costs. These expenses will be charged in addition to the fees quoted above. 3. Fees for complex / other activities In addition to the fees detailed in 1, a charge for services may be made when dealing with the following: • Business or agricultural property • Operating or selling a business • Private company shares • Assets abroad • Assets of a specialised nature e.g. fine art • Complex tax issues • Tax returns for the period to the date of death will be charged at £420 per return or if our work confirms no return is required, a lesser charge of £240 will apply. Tax returns for the estate administration period are included in the service fee • An unclear will • Freehold or leasehold property issues e.g. missing title deeds • Transfer of investments or other assets to beneficiaries • Deeds of variation, disclaimer and renunciation of appointment as executor • Engagement in litigation or dealing with threatened or anticipated litigation (including caveats) • All other duties of an unusual or complex nature Such fees will be charged based on time spent (rates available on request) except for tax returns to the date of death which are shown above as fixed fees. These fees are effective for deaths occurring on or after 1 January 2011
