state proclamation in celebration
of this prestigious accomplishment.
Community volunteers involved in
CASA (Court Appointed Special
Advocates) ensure that children in
foster care have courtroom advocacy,
access to services and resources,
and the individual attention
they deserve. These community
volunteers were honored with a
dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse for
the agency’s 15th anniversary in
the county. Since the first class of
12 in 1993, 418 Cherokee County
volunteers have been a part of providing
high quality advocacy to

After a year of teaming with local
video stores, churches and schools,
Eagle Scout David Beersdorf, 15, of
Troop 7777 in Canton donated
more than 500 new and used DVDs
to the video libraries at Children’s
at Scottish Rite and Children’s at
Hughes Spalding. In addition to organizing
several collection drives,
Beersdorf planned garage sales
and bake sales in Canton to fund
the purchase of new DVDs. Ferrill

on behalf of Children’s Healthcare
of Atlanta.
A group of Reinhardt College students
recently traveled to the National
Radio Astronomy Observatory
(NRAO) in Green Bank, W. Va.,
for a one-week intensive course in
Radio Astronomy. Under the instruction
of Reinhardt Assistant
Professor of Physics Dr. David
Moore, students measured the
atomic hydrogen emissions from
the plane of this galaxy, the Milky
Way.
Recently, Cherokee Christian Schools celebrated groundbreaking for its
new two-story, 22,000-square-foot high school building located at the
school’s current campus on Trickum Road in Woodstock. Completion is
