Addendum 1 to CP4 RFQ (Issued on October 29, 2012)

Q2. Upon review of the <strong>RFQ</strong>, it appears that the track work is a small percentage of the overall
scope. Based on having been prequalified on a previous project, will our company be eligible <strong>to</strong>
participate as a subcontrac<strong>to</strong>r <strong>to</strong> a Pre-Qualified Design-Build entity for the work addressed in
this <strong>RFQ</strong> without additional participation? If not, can we complete the required subcontract
questionnaire and submit directly <strong>to</strong> SMART for prequalification?
A2. Subcontrac<strong>to</strong>rs must be part of a design-build team <strong>to</strong> participate and cannot complete the
required subcontract questionnaire and submit directly <strong>to</strong> SMART for prequalification.
Q3. Will the jet fans for Puer<strong>to</strong> Suello Tunnel be installed under <strong>CP4</strong>?
A3. There is no forced ventilation required in the tunnel.
Q4. Will a Computer-Aided Dispatch System be housed within the Operations Control Center OCC
in the subject RFP?
A4. This contract does not install the Computer-Aided Dispatch system <strong>to</strong> be housed within the
OCC.
Q5. What is the timing for issuing a Systems contract <strong>RFQ</strong>?
A5. This Contract Package 4 does not include the systems work.
Industry Information Meeting:
3. The Contract Package 4 (<strong>CP4</strong>) Industry Information Meeting was held at SMART’s office, 5401
Old Redwood Highway, 1 st Floor Conference Room, Petaluma, CA 94954 on 10/26/2012 at
10:00 a.m. General Manager, Farhad Mansourian welcomed the guests. Bill Gamlen, Chief
Engineer, summarized SMART’s IOS-1 project and introduced Sheryl Brat<strong>to</strong>n, Legal Counsel <strong>to</strong>
SMART, Mike Grodner, <strong>CP4</strong> Project Manager, Gregg Jennings, Sr. Rail Engineer, Erin
McGrath, CFO, and LaVon Allan, Contract Administra<strong>to</strong>r/point of contact. Mike Grodner
presented an overview of the Contract Package 4 (<strong>CP4</strong>) project and Gregg Jennings provided
more information on down<strong>to</strong>wn San Rafael (see attached PowerPoint slides). LaVon Allan
reviewed the procurement schedule and highlights from the Request for Qualifications. A
Question and Answer session followed.
Q6. Will grade crossings include gates and electronics?
A6. No.
Q7. Will this contract include passenger information systems?
A7. The <strong>CP4</strong> Contract will provide for future platform systems by providing conduit in the pla<strong>to</strong>rms
and assuring room in the platform shelters.
Q8. Is construction of platforms included or is it just the platform finishes?
A8. Contract Package 4 includes the construction of ramps, stairs, path-of-travel improvements,
canopies, railings and related platform finishes. The platform shells are being completed in the
current IOS-1 design contract.
Q9. Is the CCTV infrastructure in the Systems package?
A9. The bulk of the infrastructure for Systems, like conduits and back-bone type stuff, is not included
in this contract. There will probably be hand-off points from this contract <strong>to</strong> Systems contract
(between platforms, common pull boxes, etc.).
