Ayia Napa
The Nature Day Trip
After soaking up plenty of sun at one of
Jet2holidays.com’s beach hotels, you’ll be ready
to see more of the island’s natural beauty. A few
kilometres south-east of Ayia Napa you’ll fi nd
a walk that takes in sea caves, indigenous fl ora,
wildlife and spectacular views of the Med. Pack
a picnic and head along the Ayia Napa-Cape Greco
Road, looking out for Agioi Anargyroi chapel
where the circular trail begins and ends. The stark,
white chapel makes a breathtaking contrast to the
crystal-blue sea, and the beauty increases as you
follow the coastline south towards Cape Greco.
Things to look out for on the walk include the
naturally formed Kamara Tou Karaka bridge and
the fragrant juniper shrubs. There are spectacular
cliffs as well as many weird and wonderful sea caves
en route, so make sure you have your camera to
hand. Pick a spot along the way to picnic and enjoy
the beautiful scenery. Remember to take any
rubbish with you because it’s a nature reserve.
The walk continues around the southern edge of
the cape, then further along the coast where there
are more sea caves, before heading back inland
towards the chapel. Start early to beat the heat
and make sure to go at your own pace. You’ll need
a reasonable level of fi tness to complete the trail,
which may prove too much for children. Make
sure to keep safe from the sun with a hat, sunglasses,
sunscreen and plenty of water.
