ARTICLE X<br />
EMPLOYEE VACANCIES<br />
Definition: A vacancy shall be a position that remains unfilled after the <strong>District</strong> has exercised its rights<br />
to reassign current employees within a building.<br />
A. Posting of Job Vacancies: The <strong>District</strong> agrees to post a notice of each job vacancy which is subject<br />
to the conditions of this <strong>Agreement</strong>.<br />
B. Vacancies shall be posted on the designated bulletin board in each school and on the <strong>District</strong> Voice<br />
Mail for a period of no fewer than seven (7) days prior to the application deadlines. No permanent<br />
appointment shall be made until after the deadline for filing applications. However, for vacancies<br />
occurring between August 1 – November 1 for the current year, the <strong>District</strong> shall only be required to<br />
post for three (3) days. In extenuating circumstances, the district reserves the right to shorten a<br />
posting.<br />
C. The initial vacancy notices for summer school job opportunities will be posted by March 15.<br />
Additional posting will be made if other opportunities are identified. Summer school vacancy<br />
notices shall be posted in the same place notice for regular school year vacancies are posted for a<br />
period of five (5) days before a contract is offered to an applicant. However, the <strong>District</strong> shall only<br />
be required to post for two (2) days vacancies occurring after May 15.<br />
D. The written notice for a vacancy shall contain:<br />
1. Posting date (date notices are posted in each building)<br />
2. Closing date<br />
3. Type of vacancy<br />
4. Location<br />
5. Position description<br />
6. Starting date<br />
7. Qualifications<br />
8. Salary<br />
9. Other relevant factors (when necessary)<br />
ARTICLE XI – Part I<br />
ASSIGNMENT -- Teachers<br />
A. Building administrators shall provide teachers written notice of their teaching assignments for the<br />
forthcoming year no later than June 1. In the event schedule changes are made after June 1, the<br />
teachers affected shall be notified promptly and consulted with as soon as is practical. In no event<br />
will changes in teaching schedules be made later than 60 calendar days preceding the<br />
commencement of the school year except under extenuating circumstances.<br />
B. Teachers shall not be assigned outside the scope of their valid Delaware teaching certificates.<br />
