Bags of protection
Accessory ■ Backpack inspired by nature
Crumpled papers and squashed sandwiches
are a thing of the past with the Folding Bag
from Leeuw & Vormgeving. The bag’s unusual
shape was inspired by the protective plates
of the armadillo. Made from an aluminium
polypropylene composite, the bag has a
futuristic appearance and a sturdy protective
shell. It folds fl at for storage.
Exhibition
Festival Brazil
Ernesto Neto’s
works are being
displayed as part
of Festival Brazil. A
mix of art, music,
dance, literature and
food, the festival
celebrates the
vibrant culture of
contemporary Brazil.
Ernesto Neto has been invited to transform London’s Southbank Centre.
One of the leading fi gures in Brazil’s contemporary art scene, Neto is
known for his large-scale, almost membrane-like installations that visitors
experience through sight, touch and smell. In this show, he will use the
Southbank Centre’s upper galleries and outdoor sculpture terraces for a
site-specifi c commission and several new sculptural works. The exhibition
runs from June 19 to September 5. See southbankcentre.co.uk for more.
