Help in the management and
upkeep of Cunnery Woods and
Beacon Hill with our monthly sessions
that include tree planting and
aftercare, invasive species control,
grassland management and pond
work. A great way to get some fresh

Taster Day
A full day (10.00-16.00) introductory
course on dry stone walling for adults
to be held in Shibden Park, Halifax
(HX3 6XG). Includes the theory and
practice of this ancient skill. Bring
safety boots, outdoor clothing and

Pole Lathe Turning
Learn the craft of pole lathe turning
at Shibden Park (HX3 6XG). A hands
on beginners course that teaches
people how to use the pole lathe,
how to choose the correct wood for
the job and how to complete a
simple item using the pole lathe.
Learn about the history and tools of
this ancient craft. Charge: £15.

Walk the Wainhouse Trail
Meet Iain Cameron at the base of
Wainhouse Tower, King Cross, Halifax
for a 2 hour guided walk of around 1
mile which includes some hills. Walk
starts from the base of the Tower at
14.15. Access on foot from Wakefield
Gate (off Skircoat Moor Road).
Charge: £3 per person. Find out
about John Edward Wainhouse, his
life, his Tower and other properties
connected with him and learn about
his feud with Sir Henry Edwards.
