Woods and Hill<br />
Practical Session<br />
Help in the management and<br />
upkeep of Cunnery Woods and<br />
Beacon Hill with our monthly sessions<br />
that include tree planting and<br />
aftercare, invasive species control,<br />
grassland management and pond<br />
work. A great way to get some fresh<br />
air and put something back into the<br />

Apple Day<br />
Apple day is an annual celebration<br />
and at Shibden Hall, Halifax (HX3 6XG)<br />
the day features juice making<br />
activities, children’s activities, apple<br />
identification, guided tours, produce,<br />
food and drink, music, storytelling,<br />
stalls and much more. If any<br />
organisation is interested in renting a<br />
stall to sell or promote event<br />
appropriate products /services e.g.<br />
Local food producers, groups<br />
promoting sustainability, wildlife,<br />
traditional crafts etc, please contact<br />

Event runs from 11.00-16.00.<br />

Autumnwatch<br />
Meet Alan Greenwood in the car<br />
park behind Cromwell House,<br />
Cromwell Bottom , off the A6025 near<br />
Brighouse (Grid Reference: SE 123<br />
224) at 10.30 for a 6 mile walk looking<br />
for signs of autumn (route is a repeat<br />
of the Springwatch walk). For further<br />

Perambulation along the<br />
Pennine Way 6<br />
Meet Chris Sutcliffe at 10.30 in the car<br />
park at Clough Foot, approx ½ mile<br />
past the Packhorse Pub off the Slack-<br />
Colne Road for a walk following the<br />
Pennine Way out of Calderdale to<br />
Top Withens before returning over<br />
moorlands and tracks. Distance: 8.5<br />
miles.<br />

one museum, with lunch in the<br />
ground of another before returning<br />
via the Shibden Valley.<br />

Dry Stone Walling<br />
Taster Day<br />
A full day (10.00-16.00) introductory<br />
course on dry stone walling for adults<br />
to be held in Shibden Park, Halifax.<br />
Includes the theory and practice of<br />
this ancient skill. Bring safety boots,<br />
outdoor clothing and work gloves.<br />

Halloween tour of<br />
Shibden Estate<br />
Fireworks, fiends and frights on this<br />
ghostly tour of Shibden Estate,<br />
Halifax (HX3 6XG). Fancy dress,<br />
torches and warm clothing a must!<br />
Tour and fireworks start at 19.00.<br />
£1.50 per person, (£1 for Passport to<br />
Leisure holders) - train and Mereside<br />
cafe not included in admission<br />
charge. Keep your pets at home as<br />
there will be loud noises and flashes.<br />
No need to book. Ghost train and<br />
ghoulish Mereside cafe open from<br />
