Centre at 10.30 for a 4.5 mile walk
along the canal towpath to
Todmorden. Bus or train fare
needed for transport back to start

Woods and Hill
Practical Session
Help in the management and
upkeep of Cunnery Woods and
Beacon Hill with our monthly sessions
that include tree planting and
aftercare, invasive species control,
grassland management and pond
work. A great way to get some fresh
air and put something back into the

Apple Day
Apple day is an annual celebration
and at Shibden Hall, Halifax (HX3 6XG)
the day features juice making
activities, children’s activities, apple
identification, guided tours, produce,
food and drink, music, storytelling,
stalls and much more. If any
organisation is interested in renting a
stall to sell or promote event
appropriate products /services e.g.
Local food producers, groups
promoting sustainability, wildlife,
traditional crafts etc, please contact
us on shibden.hall@calderdale.gov.uk.
Event runs from 11.00-16.00.

Autumnwatch
Meet Alan Greenwood in the car
park behind Cromwell House,
Cromwell Bottom , off the A6025 near
Brighouse (Grid Reference: SE 123
224) at 10.30 for a 6 mile walk looking
for signs of autumn (route is a repeat
of the Springwatch walk). For further

Wednesday 24th October
Perambulation along the
Pennine Way 6
Meet Chris Sutcliffe at 10.30 in the car
park at Clough Foot, approx ½ mile
past the Packhorse Pub off the Slack-
Colne Road for a walk following the
Pennine Way out of Calderdale to
Top Withens before returning over
moorlands and tracks. Distance: 8.5
miles.

Meet Chris Sutcliffe at 10.30 outside
the front of Shibden Hall, Halifax
(HX3 6XG) for a 5 ½ mile walk from
one museum, with lunch in the
ground of another before returning
via the Shibden Valley.
Saturday 27th October
Dry Stone Walling
Taster Day
A full day (10.00-16.00) introductory
course on dry stone walling for adults
to be held in Shibden Park, Halifax.
Includes the theory and practice of
this ancient skill. Bring safety boots,
outdoor clothing and work gloves.

Halloween tour of
Shibden Estate
Fireworks, fiends and frights on this
ghostly tour of Shibden Estate,
Halifax (HX3 6XG). Fancy dress,
torches and warm clothing a must!
Tour and fireworks start at 19.00.
£1.50 per person, (£1 for Passport to
Leisure holders) - train and Mereside
cafe not included in admission
charge. Keep your pets at home as
there will be loud noises and flashes.
No need to book. Ghost train and
ghoulish Mereside cafe open from
18.00 Event ends at 21.00.
