Mamen Domingo founded the studio DOMINGO ¡! FERRÉ
ARCHITECTS with her partner Ernest Ferré in 1992. She graduated from
the Architecture School of Barcelona (ETSAB-UPC) in 1993.
She started working in 1985 as an architectural assistant, on various
projects for The Barcelona Olimpic games in collaboration with several
architectural teams, until 1992. Her projects and articles have been published
in several Spanish and international Architectural reviews. The determination
of Mamen Domingo to combine professional and academic activities, merging
them and giving a special value to architecture, in general, and to her own
work concretely, are constant in her professional career.
Her enthusiasm for research in different fields of architecture is the
main motive for her huge academic activity. She has been professor of
Architectural Projects at the Architecture School of Barcelona (ETSAB-UPC),
since 1994, and professor of Shape Analysis in Civil Engineering at The Civil
Engineering School of Barcelona (ETSCCP-UPC), since 1996. At the same
time, she is collaborating with other universities in Spain. Her work at The
Laboratory of Projects at ESARQ (UIC) and her lectures at La Salle must
be considered as well. Mamen Domingo is actually a member of the jury
of Dragados Awards, and a jurist for Graduation Projects at ETSAB and
ETSCCP.
We can highlight among all her desing work: various pedestrian
bridges, specially the Forum 2004 Bridge; two football stadiums in Reus;
The Mortuary of Vila Seca; and several private houses, made of concrete,
specially Villa Maite.
In her professional and academic activity, Mamen Domingo studies
the representation of the contemporary form, through incursions into various
artistic fields, such as poetry and plastic arts. She investigates the emotive
relationship between architecture and its background, increasing its expressive
capacity by symbolic and collective approaches.
