Ta vieta jam labai patiko – kalnas buvo apaugęs senais ąžuolais ir baltais beržais, pakalnėje plaukė Neries upė. Ryto metą kunigaikštis atsikėlęs papasakojo regėjęs nuostabų sapną: ant aukšto kalno stovėjo didelis geležinis vilkas, o kaukė jis taip garsiai kaip šimtas vilkų. Niekas negalėjo Gediminui paaiškinti, ką toks sapnas galėtų reikšti, tik vyriausias lietuvių vaidila krivių. Krivaitis tarė: „Vyriausias kunigaikšti, geležinis vilkas yra miestas, kurį tu turi pastatyti ant šio kalno, miestas bus tvirtas kaip geležis. Priešai jį puldinės daug kartų, norėdami sugriauti ir suardyti, tačiau neįveiks jo. O toks stiprus vilko balsas reiškia, kad garsas apie galingą ir turtingą miestą pasklis plačiai po visą pasaulį.“ Gediminas pastatė miestą ant kalno, kur nakvojo, ir pavadino jį Vilniumi. Paskui persikėlė į jį gyventi. O per daugelį metų išsipildė krivaičio žodžiai apie Vilniaus galybę ir garsumą. 29
