Object
Pumped storage plant with a forecast output power of
900 MW in the border area of Switzerland and France,
between Martigny (canton Wallis) and Chamonix.
The new station uses the difference in water levels between
the reservoirs of Vieux Emosson (2205 metres above sea
level) and Emosson (1930 metres above sea level).
Description of Services
– Main access tunnel L = 5600 m, excavation with a hard
rock TBM (Ø 9.47 m)
– Access tunnels L = 4500 m, excavation by drill & blast
– Machine hall 35 × 52 × 190 m
– Transformer hall 23 × 25 × 127 m
– Waterway tunnel: 2 galleries L = 1500 m
– Pressure shafts: 2 vertical shafts H = 480 m, excavation
using the Raise Boring method and drill and blast
– Shell and interior work
– Gravel processing plant and concrete plant
– Final disposal of the excavation material at Disposal site

– The starting point for Logistics and Assembly is
hampered due to the very restricted space conditions
