Foreign Investment Index
The Foreign Investment Index is calculated using an established methodology by CountryWatch's
Editor-in-Chief and is based on a given country's economic stability (sustained economic growth,
monetary stability, current account deficits, budget surplus), economic risk (risk of non-servicing of
payments for goods or services, loans and trade-related finance, risk of sovereign default), business
and investment climate (property rights, labor force and laws, regulatory transparency, openness to
foreign investment, market conditions, and stability of government). Scores are assigned from 0-10
using the aforementioned criteria. A score of 0 marks the lowest level of foreign investment viability,
while a score of 10 marks the highest level of foreign investment viability, according to this proprietary
index.
