ABSTRACT
Stable isotope data stemming from streamflow, rain as well as groundwater was used in order to better
understand the hydrogeology of the vicinity of the Superconducting Gravimeter in Sutherland, South
Africa.. This was done in conjunction with the macro chemistry of the previously mentioned waters in
order to better understand the hydrogeochemistry of the area. The aforementioned information is
complimented with the interpretation of drilling logs and field geological data. Lastly the addition of
soil moisture information and interpretation of tracer experiments performed in the near-surface vadose
zone aids in completing the conceptual model and gives greater insight into recharge and groundwater
behaviour in the area.
