St. Paul's Hosts Senior Resource Fair
The senior services industry is expansive and covers a variety of information and services. St. Paul's is
contacted daily by companies that offer everything from memory testing to selling customized telephones
for seniors. To allow our Residents to have access to these companies without bombarding them with
presentation after presentation, St. Paul's decided to bring them all together at one time and host its first
ever Senior Resource Fair.
Held at the Villa in June, the Senior Resource Fair
featured speakers every 30 minutes on topics ranging
from heart health to fall prevention. More than 35
vendors filled the Waterman Ballroom and performed
health screenings, passed out a variety of information
pertinent to seniors and explained the products they
offer. There was also a blood drive by the American
Red Cross, an opportunity drawing featuring a host of
donated items and tours of the community.
"It was great having so many products and services
presented to us," said Manor Resident Eileen Jaffola. I
particularly enjoyed the speaker on memory testing. He
gave some helpful tips and very useful information."
Fun in the Sun
Remembering September 11th
On September 11 th , St. Paul’s staff took a moment (pictured at
right) to remember those who lost their lives in the 911 terrorist
attacks. Led by Volunteer Coordinator Stewart Gaddy, the
ceremony included an invocation from PACE Chaplain Cari
Furr, followed by Senior Day Participant Lillian Atwood
leading the singing of “God Bless America.”
St. Paul's employees spend a lot of time together providing
outstanding service and care to the seniors they serve. To
show appreciation and provide an opportunity for staff to get
together outside of work and meet each other's families,
St. Paul's held an employee picnic at Balboa Park. Employees
ate delicious barbecue prepared and served by volunteers from
the Marine Corps, played a variety of games (pictured at left),
relaxed and simply enjoyed each other's company. "It was great
to get together and see everyone in comfy clothes outside of
the office setting," said Manor Administrative Assistant Linda
Redenbaugh. "I think we all enjoyed the good food and some
time together to just relax."
