<strong>EDU</strong> <strong>403</strong> MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION<br />

Some overall objectives have been specified so as to achieve the aims set<br />

out above. In addition, each unit has specific objectives set out. These unit<br />

objectives are always included at the beginning of the unit. You should try<br />

to read them before you start working through the unit. You may also refer<br />

to them during your study of the unit to check on your progress <strong>and</strong> after<br />

completing the unit. In this way you can be sure that you have done what<br />

was required of you by the unit.<br />

The objectives of the whole course are set out below. By meeting these<br />

objectives you should have achieved the aims of the course as a whole. On<br />

5. Discuss the taxonomy of educational objectives.<br />

6. Describe the domains of educational objectives.<br />

7. List the uses of classroom test.<br />

8. List the types of test used in the classroom.<br />

9. Enumerate the advantages <strong>and</strong> disadvantages of essay <strong>and</strong> objectives<br />

types of test.<br />

10. Explain test administration <strong>and</strong> scoring<br />

11. Estimate <strong>and</strong> interpret the reliability of a test.<br />

12. Explain the validity of a test as an instrument<br />

13. Describe the problems of marking tests.<br />

14. Explain quality control in marking system.<br />

Working through this Course<br />

To complete this course successfully, you are required to read the study<br />

units, read other textbooks in measurement <strong>and</strong> evaluation. Each unit<br />

contains self-assessment exercises. You are also required to complete <strong>and</strong><br />

submit the tutor-marked assignments for assessment purposes. At the end of<br />

the course or semester, you are expected to sit for a final examination. This<br />

course should take you about 15 weeks in total to complete. The<br />

components of the course have been listed below to enable you plan very<br />

well for your success in the course.<br />
