Applications Due for Course on Food
and Nutrition Planning
Applications are due November 30, 1997, for preliminary
evaluation and January 31, 1998, for admission to the
University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) Graduate
School to attend the 13th Course of the Regional Training
Programme on Food and Nutrition Planning, which leads to a
Master of Professional Studies degree in Food and Nutrition
Planning. The course will commence in April 1998 and be
taught at the UPLB. Organized by the Netherlands Universities
Foundation for International Cooperation/International Course
in Food Science and Nutrition, the FAO of the United Nations,
and the UPLB, the 1 8-mo course is open to professionals from
government and private institutions and university-level in-
structors. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in a related
field, an academic record indicating capability to pursue graduate
studies, and proficiency in English. Applicants from Asian
and Pacific countries are preferred. Contact The Director,

Page Charge Increase for AJCN
For manuscripts received after July 1, 1997 by the Editorial
Office of the AJCN, the page charges are $50 per printed page.
Requests for waivers of the page charges must be submitted to
the Editor-in-Chief with the original manuscript. Page charges
do not apply to reports of ASCN meetings, official ASCN
statements, letters to the Editor, book reviews, or papers re-
quested by the Editor-in-Chief.
1997 ASCN Award Winners
The ASCN presented its annual awards at the 37th Annual
Meeting in Montreal, July 24-26, 1997. Award winners were
William Evans Mitch, MD, Emory University, Robert H Herman
Memorial Award in Clinical Nutrition; Kenneth H Brown,
MD, University of California, Davis, McCollum Award;
Charles H Halsted, MD, University of California, Davis,
National Dairy Council Award for Excellence in Medical!
Dental Nutrition Education; and Kathryn G Dewey, PhD, Uni-
versity of California, Davis, Norman Kretchmer Memorial
Award in Nutrition and Development. The papers presented at
the meeting will be published in the AJCN.
