Two fragments. The purpose of this list, as of <strong>the</strong> pre-<br />

ceding, is uncertain. Most of <strong>the</strong> persons mentioned are apparently<br />

clerics ; perhaps <strong>the</strong>refore <strong>the</strong> list is intended for com-<br />

memoration or invocation.<br />

i f. APIA GXCDp : GKJDP is doubtful, <strong>and</strong> seems, in any case,<br />

an unlikely name, but 2cop is not possible. There has very<br />

possibly been an alteration, <strong>and</strong> perhaps only one letter (i) is<br />

to be read before cop.<br />

5. Castor is a rare name. Perhaps reminiscent of an<br />

obscure saint of this neighbourhood, martyred at Bardanuhah<br />

<strong>and</strong> named sometimes in <strong>the</strong> litany (v. <strong>the</strong> Cairo Absaliyat<br />

1629 (igi3), p. 4>nz ; cf. also Abu Salih f. 743, reading Kastur).<br />

8. net-i . [: here again <strong>the</strong>re may have been an alteration ;<br />

a character seems to be written above <strong>the</strong> second n. Probably<br />

<strong>the</strong> word is a <strong>Coptic</strong> plural possessive, neu[.
