inaugurated on 6 th May 2012 by Mr. K.<br />

Minister Chhattisgarh who was present as<br />
Chief Guest. The scientific session started<br />
from 7 th May 2012 which was attended<br />

QIP and summer Training<br />
Programme on at MCOPs<br />
AICTE (New Delhi) sponsored three<br />
two-week QIPs from 28 th May to 8 th July<br />
2012. Eight departments of MCOPS were<br />
involved in the conduct of the QIP, with<br />
each department getting up to 4-5 days to<br />
conduct the programmes. Expert resource<br />
persons from within the college or outside<br />
will deliver special lectures or conduct<br />
live demonstrations of procedures and<br />
processes. Dr. H S Ballal (Pro Chancellor,<br />
Manipal University) inaugurated the QIP.<br />
Dr. N Udupa (Principal MCOPS) welcomed<br />
the gathering.<br />
Felicitation of retired Teachers<br />
and supporting staff<br />
During the Golden Jubilee Year, college<br />
decided to felicitate former teachers and<br />
retired supporting staff. The first of these<br />
felicitation functions was conducted on<br />
28 th May 2012. The teachers included<br />

The XI Summer Training programme for<br />
postgraduate students, co-ordinated by Dr.<br />
P D Gupta (formerly of CCMB, Hyderabad)<br />
and Dr. N Udupa, was inaugurated on 28th May 2012. Dr. H S Ballal inaugurated the<br />

workshop organized<br />
A workshop was organized at Rajiv<br />
Academy for Pharmacy, Mathura to<br />
disseminate the basic understanding of<br />
manufacturing, packaging and sealing<br />
of tablets, capsules, liquid & semisolid<br />
dosage forms and suppositories. The<br />
delegation of <strong>Indian</strong> Medical <strong>Association</strong>,<br />
Mathura branch attended the workshop<br />

Academy for Pharmacy, Mathura welcomed<br />
the delegation. The workshop was initiated<br />
by Dr. Kamla Pathak, Dean & Head,<br />

Vignan Pharmacy College has conducted<br />
a two day National workshop on “Utility<br />
of HPLC and NMR in <strong>Pharmaceutical</strong><br />
Research”. Dated 15.06.2012, Dr.<br />
VenkatManohar, Director, <strong>Indian</strong> Institute<br />
of Chromatography and Mass spectrometry<br />
(IICMS) – Chennai, came as a chief guest<br />
and said that after synthesizing a new<br />
drug substance, its purity and the % of<br />
impurity has to be determined, for doing so<br />
the knowledge of high performance liquid<br />
chromatography mass spectrometer (HPLC-<br />
MS) and Nuclear magnetic resource (NMR)<br />
spectro is necessary . Dr. P. SrinivasaBabu,<br />
Principal, Vignan Pharmacy College, staff<br />
and the 200 students have participated in<br />
this workshop.<br />

Release of first official magazine<br />
‘elIXIr’<br />
Uttarakhand Pharmacy Council released<br />
first issue of their official magazine ‘ELIXIR’<br />
on 20th May 2012 at Dehradun. Council<br />
President Dr. Laxman Singh Rautela spoke<br />
that this issue of ELIXIR was dedicated to<br />
the first known pharmacist of Uttarakhand<br />
state, Late Mr. Prajapati Joshi (1926-<br />
1996). The magazine is edited by Mr.<br />
Virendra Panwar, Member of council and<br />
guest editor is Dr. Sangeeta Pilhwal Sah.<br />
Magazine was released by Prof. Roop<br />
K.Khar, Mr. G.S. Bedi, GM IDPL Rishikesh,<br />
Dr. J.R.Dhyani, State Drug Analyst, in<br />
presence of other dignitaries. Prof. Vijay<br />
