chloride (81 mg/L), sulfate (42 mg/L), total dissolved solids (456 mg/L), and<br />

total suspended solids (33 mg/L). Concentrations for most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se<br />

parameters decreased downstream and at <strong>the</strong> lower station on Third Creek<br />

were comparable to those observed in Flat Rock Lake. Although <strong>the</strong> City <strong>of</strong><br />

Kerrville's wastewater treatment plant was not discharging during <strong>the</strong> survey<br />

period, or for <strong>the</strong> entire months <strong>of</strong> October and November 1983, its effluent<br />

was <strong>the</strong> most likely source <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> elevated levels. The sample collected at <strong>the</strong><br />

City <strong>of</strong> Kerrville's wastewater treatment plant, from which discharges are<br />

periodically made, indicate levels <strong>of</strong> oxygen demanding substances and<br />

nutrient levels typical <strong>of</strong> secondary treated effluent (Station 1, Table 9).<br />
