Method<br />

Silver diethylidithcocarbonate<br />

Potassium permanganate digestion<br />

Bacteriological samples are collected in sterilized bottles to which<br />

0.5 ml <strong>of</strong> sodium thiosulfate is added to dechlorinate <strong>the</strong> sample.<br />

Following collection, <strong>the</strong> samples are stored on ice until delivery to<br />

a laboratory or until cultures are set up by survey personnel (within 6<br />

hours <strong>of</strong> collection). Bacteriological analyses are conducted by survey<br />

personnel or a suitable laboratory in <strong>the</strong> survey area.<br />
