Not many eleven-year-old boys can claim that they attended the
2007 Major league baseball all-star game® in san Francisco
last summer and got to meet the players. Van Mclean from the
raleigh boys Club can though, because he won the Mlb® s.t.a.r.
award. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding boys & girls
Club members participating in sports, fitness, and social recreation
programs. Van was selected from over 1 million Club members to
represent the southeast region for his behaviors in Sportsmanship,
Team spirit, Achievement, and Responsibility (s.t.a.r.). During
his four-day stay in san Francisco, Van had the opportunity to
rub shoulders with stars like Derick Jeter and boys & girls Club
alumnus alex rodriguez. he was personally welcomed by Mlb
Commissioner bud selig.
