tommy turner is 2008 youtH of tHe year
to tommy, winning the youth of the year award is all about selffulfillment
and helping others. He volunteered for three years
straight in order to reach the youth of the year achievement and
is now employed by the Club as a member of the Junior staff. in
2008, tommy contributed more than 1,000 hours of community
service. When asked why he believes in volunteerism, tommy
said, “Community service is the responsibility of every man and
woman to ensure the enrichment of our future and open a wide
door of opportunity.”

selected were: Caitlin Hooks, 16, Wake forest Boys & Girls
Club; Wyshika turner, 16, Washington elementary Boys & Girls
Club; Diamond Dunn, 14, raleigh Girls Club; robert Green, 15,
raleigh Boys Club; and Jevon Hodge, 15, teen Center.
In Wake County 1,362 youth had trouble with the law in 2007.
At our Boys & Girls Clubs we keep kids positively involved in
the community; 387 members actively volunteer, contributing
thousands of hours to the well-being of our community.
