Eng&<strong>Tech</strong> has worked in collaboration with important researches in the f ield of gasif ication in order to dev elop the most versatile pilot<br />

plant existing in the market nowaday s. Its v ersatility and <strong>com</strong>plete automatization, allows the user to determine optimal experimental<br />

conditions and detecting possible operational problem in industrial gasif iers.<br />

The most outstanding f eature of the plant is its feeding system (pending patent), which has been dev eloped by PID Eng&<strong>Tech</strong> and can<br />

f eed up to 1.5 kg/h of diff erent solids and mixtures in an homogenous, constant and reproducible way. The design of the sy stem<br />

prev ents hot gases f rom entering in the feeding hopper, which would ruin the experiment.<br />

FEATURES:<br />

Fluidized Reactor<br />

The reactor is div ided in reactor zone and f reeboard zone.<br />

The operating homogeneous temperature is up to 900ºC.<br />

• Reactor zone is Ø = 3” and length = 750 mm.<br />

Freeboard zone is Ø = 5” and length = 630 mm.<br />

• The pressure is measured drop inside reactor, f or<br />

f luidization speed determination.<br />

• Particle remov al sy stem is installed to collect char and<br />

ashes f rom bed in continuous during the experiments.<br />

• The radiant ty pe f urnace reaches 1000ºC and has t wo<br />

zones to improv e the unif orm temperature.<br />

Gasifying agent inlets<br />

• Gases streams f or f luidize the bed and gasify are<br />

preheated up to 600ºC.<br />

• Water is f ed by means of an alternativ e positiv e<br />

displacement pump and v aporized up to 600ºC.<br />

Feeding system<br />

Continuous and non-f luctuation solid f eeding sy stem<br />

consists of 10 litres hopper and two screw f eeders. The<br />

solid f low is constant f rom 0.2 to 1.5 Kg/h.<br />

• A nitrogen f low will continuously flush the dosing screw,<br />

promoting the motion of the solids.<br />

Cyclones<br />

Automated and <strong>com</strong>puterized laboratory-pilot plant for the study of gasification process.<br />

• Two cy clones connected in series and heated up to<br />

400ºC, allow remov ing solid particles f rom gas stream.<br />

Products treatment<br />

• A SS316 Shell and multitube heat exchanger is used<br />

to cool the hot gases and condense tar and steam. A<br />

f ilter allows cleaning product gas.<br />

Scrubbers and gas meter<br />

• As optional, a wet gas scrubber is used<br />

to remov e contaminants, and a wet gas<br />

meter is used to outlet stream<br />

measurement.<br />

Control system<br />

• The process v ariables are controlled by<br />

independent PID controllers.<br />

• A Programmable Logic Controller<br />

controls the alarms of the plant,<br />

launching the corresponding actions in<br />

case of failure.<br />

• The sof tware is responsible of process<br />

monitorization, data acquisition and<br />

registration and experiment automation.
