PID Eng&Tech was born as a spin-off company with more than 16 y ears of accumulated experience and has dev oted its activ ity to
the technologies dev elopment dedicated to the construction and operation mode of laboratory -scale reactors and micro-scale pilot
plants, and their data acquisition, superv isory and control sy stems. The main areas of PID are: petrochemistry, chemistry,
agrochemistry, cataly sis and new energies.
The staff that worked f or the Process Control Group, f ormed by experts with multidisciplinary backgrounds in chemical engineering,
electronics, automated and software engineering, set up in 2003, in the Scientif ic Park of Madrid, the company Process Integral
Dev elopment Eng&Tech, where the experience, technological dev elopment and innov ations achiev ed by the group ov er many
y ears of work in the field of engineering had been put into practice.
LAB-SCALE PILOT PLANTS
The incorporation to the market of new instrumentation (smart instrumentation,
f ield communications, automation of chromatographic techniques, low cost
time-sharing computers, new materials ...) has made possible to think of a
computerized process control sy stem designed to control discrete operations
common to many processes that are studied at pilot plant lev el, in such a way ,
that single designs can be used f or many diff erent processes.
Our automated control sy stems f or laboratory reactors and pilot plants hav e
many adv antages when compared to other sy stems. Some of them include size
and easy scale-up. One of the adv antages of our units is that y ou can start
"small" and later scale-up the sy stem as y our requirements grow. Putting
together a sy stem in this way keeps y our initial cost low, y et prov ides y ou with
the ability to add instruments and equipments at any time in the f uture. Lastly,
as y ou build and expand y our system, the initial cost of the unit decreases.
With a 19" industrial rack, howev er, y ou can place the sy stem in almost any
location. Other enclosures are also av ailable to prov ide the sy stem with
additional protection.
Our automated control systems include the Process@® software f or
superv isory control and data acquisition. Process@® software is based on
digital RS-485 communications bet ween controllers and management control
sy stem. The communication with the computer is managed by means of the
Ethernet, TCP/IP protocol.
The objectiv e of the PID Eng&Tech Company is, theref ore, to design and
prepare standard equipment to carry out common operation steps of pilot plant
reactors used to study different chemical processes and, thus, to build such
pilot plant reactors using modular components with the aim of diminishing at
least one f actor of 2 existing: construction time and cost. The design will
include the latest adv ances in process control technology .
PID Eng&Tech also off ers the possibility of installing improv ed automated
control sy stems f or pilot plants already in operation.
Sixteen y ears of experience and know-how back the company in the design,
dev elopment and construction of sev eral ty pes of pilot plants. Especially we
hav e a huge experience using MFC's, high pressure systems (400-600 bars),
special alloy s (Hastelloy®, Inconel®, Monel®, etc.), pressure control systems,
separation sy stems of pressurized liquid-gas mixtures, superv isory control and
data acquisition by PC, etc. The whole lot of equipments, reactors and plants
are deliv ered "turn-key ", checked and commissioned. We always prov ide a
user's handbook and practical training.
